The Saga of Blake Cashman

When the news broke this past week that the New York Jets had traded oft-injured linebacker Blake Cashman to the Houston Texans for a 2023 sixth round draft pick, that sound that could be heard all over the country was the thud of the jaws of Jets fans hitting the ground. A player who felt like he was getting hurt just by rolling out of bed wasn’t cut, Joe Douglas was able to actually acquire a draft asset for him. So with this 3 year odyssey at an end, let’s pay our respects to Mr Cashman. The Saga of Blake Cashman 2019 The Jets drafted Cashman in the fifth round (157th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft, a class that brought us the likes of Quinnen Williams, Trevon Wesco, Bless Austin, Chuma Edoga, and Jachai Polite. Of course, a contract can possibly be restructured, such as the 17.5 million for CJ Mosley or the $11.1 million for George Fant, if the Jets are interested in extending him. And I'm going to say that will happen, and the cap hits for those two players will be reduced by $5 million total, taking us up to $30 million. The depth in free agency is top heavy at certain positions and downright dreadful at others....
