The best July day in Jets history

 July 27, 2022. The first day of Jets practice. Let's recap what an amazing day this was, actually in my mind, the greatest July day in Jets history.:

1. Mekhi Becton willingly accepted taking the role of right tackle, which in turn allows George Fant to play left tackles, where he is a superior player compared to when he plays right tackle. There was no tackle controversy, like many fans and media thought would happen. No, Coach Robert Saleh addressed it immediately.

2. The kickers! The Jets haven't had a credible placekicker on their roster since Jason Myers. Now they have 2. Veteran free agent Greg Zuerlein and last year's late signing Eddy Piniero have made all 8 kicks they have attempted thus far.

3. Denzel Mims. The most maligned wide receiver in all of football. The second round bust. Well he looks ready to play now. 4 catches on 5 targets, including 2 catches where he had to go up and get the ball. He knows his career is on the line and he playing like it. He may not be able to ascend higher than WR 5 on this roster, so even if he becomes trade bait, this is only helping his trade value, which enables GM Joe Douglas to fleece some poor team.

4. Zach Wilson completing of 11 passes. Two of those incompletions were dropped. I was reading words like poise and efficient. Love hearing those words to describe Zach!

5. Nobody on the PUP list. Becton Fant, Carl Lawson, and CJ Uzomah all came back. The one concern is rookie tight end Jeremy Ruckert with his plantar fasciitis, but he is only the 3rd tight end on this team, so he is not being counted on to make an immediate impact.

6. Joe Klecko named a finalist for the Hall of Fame. He is one of 12 finalists, and three of those players will be selected. The next big date is August 16 when the selection committee will host a Zoom meeting, and each member will nominate one player. I can't imagine any fanbase is as passionate about this Hall of Fame vote as the Jets because we as Jets have been waiting nearly a quarter century to see this happen. The only fanbase that could come close, in my mind, is Packers fans supporting Sterling Sharpe, one of Brett Favre's featured wide receivers. 

But at the same time, Favre is in the Hall of Fame. So is Reggie White. So is James Lofton. Conversely, that entire 1980's era of Jets football has been ignored in NFL history and the induction of Klecko would symbolize the league's respect and appreciate for that time. Let's hope it happens now!

Jets-Comparing Our Mock Drafts to the 2022 NFL Draft

 Well, the 2022 NFL draft is officially in the books. As Jets fans, we had been waiting on this draft for four months, even before the 2021 season had come to an end. We knew the Jets were going to enter the draft with a plethora of holes and many premium picks to fill those holes. And on the GreenBean channel, we did 15 mock drafts over 4+ months to project what we would do if we were in Joe Douglas' shoes and were in charge of the draft. So let's take a look at what our tendencies and favorite players were, then figure out what our ideal mock draft would have looked like, and then compare that to what the Jets actually ended up doing on that late April weekend. Who did we pick the most? Our top first round selections were edge Jermaine Johnson and C Tyler Linderbaum, who were taken 4 times.
