The best July day in Jets history

July 27, 2022. The first day of Jets practice. Let's recap what an amazing day this was, actually in my mind, the greatest July day in Jets history.: 1. Mekhi Becton willingly accepted taking the role of right tackle, which in turn allows George Fant to play left tackles, where he is a superior player compared to when he plays right tackle. There was no tackle controversy, like many fans and media thought would happen. No, Coach Robert Saleh addressed it immediately. 2. The kickers! The Jets haven't had a credible placekicker on their roster since Jason Myers. Now they have 2. Veteran free agent Greg Zuerlein and last year's late signing Eddy Piniero have made all 8 kicks they have attempted thus far. 3. Denzel Mims. The most maligned wide receiver in all of football. The second round bust. Well he looks ready to play now. 4 catches on 5 targets, including 2 catches where he had to go up and get the ball. He knows his career is on the line and he playing like it. Jets Black Helmets Review

There are very few topics on which all Jets fans agree. There are a few things we all agree on, such as Joe Klecko belongs in the Hall of Fame, the 2022 draft class has the potential to be one of the best ever, and Adam Gase was a disaster in every way. But with most topics like uniforms, Jets fans tend to be divided. When the team redesigned the logo and uniforms in 2019, everything from the logo to the font to the addition of black became a topic of debate.  It seems as though a lot of people have now warmed up to the black as perhaps the sleakest and most appealing uniforms in the team's arsenal now. But in recent months on Jets social media, there has been a heavy demand for a throwback uniform reminiscent of the 1980's with the Jets airplane logo and the kelly green. So this week, when team owner Woody Johnson teased a helmet reveal on Twitter, it got fans talking. Now that the NFL is allowing alternate helmets for the first time, what would the Jets add? They did not add

Predictions for 2022 Jets Rookies

In the 30 years I've been a Jets fan, I am hard pressed to remember a time with this much young talent on the team. And maybe no draft class has caused as big a stir as 2022. So let's look at this new crop of rookies and try to come up with an idea of what they can contribute to Gang Green in the upcoming 2022 season. Sauce Gardner, CB Cornerback is probably the toughest non-quarterback position in the NFL for a rookie since opposing teams can single them out and design their gameplan around exposing them. That's why I was so happy to see the Jets draft Sauce Gardner at #4 overall.  Now  I think teams will test him early, and there will be a bit of a rough adjustment at first. Playing quarterbacks like Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson will be a rough go in the first half of the season.  However, his ability to win one on one will emerge early and by the second half of the season, teams will realize this is a rookie not to be picked on. I will say he

Top 5 Jets Undrafted free agents

5. DL Mike DeVito, 2007 DeVito was with the Jets for six years, although he only started one game in his first three seasons. Over the last three, he developed into one of the best run stuffers in the NFL, starting 40 games, including three in the postseason. DeVito only had 3.5 sacks with the Jets - including 1 in the playoffs - but 1 of those sacks forced a fumble that Muhammad Wilkerson returned for a touchdown in Seattle.   4. WR Robby Anderson, 2016 Anderson averaged 52 catches for 764 yards and 4 touchdowns in his 4 seasons as a Jet. Statistically, 2017 was his best year with career-bests of 63 catches, 941 yards and seven touchdowns. He eclipsed 1,000 yards his first year in Carolina but only scored 3 TDs. Drop rate increased from 2% to 6.4%   3. NT Damon Harrison, 2012 "Snacks" barely played in his rookie season after having had a mountain to climb just to make the roster. Over the next three seasons, he started every game and was arguably the best run d

Live tracking of Mets vs Braves Game 2

Since I now have remote access to the SNY app, I can watch Mets games. So I thought I'd live track Mets vs Braves tonight. 7:22 First pitch: Spencer Strider pitches to Brandon Nimmo. This Strider guy has come out of nowhere to look like a pretty good starter, and I'm pretty sure it's all because of the stache. 7:30 Pete Alonso comes up with a runner on second with two out and strikes out on a fastball right down the middle.  7:36: This Atlanta lineup scares me with Adam Duvall in for Eddie Rosario. One thing David Peterson cannot do tonight is walk opposing batters. The Braves will likely hit a home run or two, but there cannot be runners on base if that happens. 7:41 Matt Olson is a good baseball player. But with those swings and misses, he'll never be Freddie Freeman. 7:43: With runners on first and third, Peterson strikes out that terrible human being Marcell Ozuna. Big time strikeout, he actually struck out the side. That's 13 straight games the Mets have not al

Three Reasons the Mets Will Win The NL East

1 Buck Showalter The best manager in baseball. Never will be outmanaged, always prepared, hungry, respected by all. Best of all, he is not Mickey Callaway or Luis Rojas. Enough said. 2 Reinforced Roster During the swoon of the month of June, the Mets have had a few flaws exposed. For one thing, we can all agree the bullpen does not have a lot of depth. Adam Ottavino gave up a walk-off home run to a backup catcher no one had ever heard of in Houston, but prior to that, he had allowed 1 run in 7 weeks and currently has a 2.86 ERA. Then   Drew Smith gives up a brutal go-ahead ninth-inning HR to Jason Castro, who has a little pop as any player on the Astros roster. His ERA has skyrocketed to 2.48 and his WHIP to 1.07. But some Mets fans are ready to toss both of them onto the Grand Central Parkway. The return of Colin Holderman will improve the pen. Trevor May is working his way back and I still maintain he has never been healthy since joining the Mets. Hopefully this time off wi
